Forest Peoples Programme is a human rights organisation working with forest peoples across the globe to secure their rights to their lands and their livelihoods.

It works alongside more than 60 partner organisations assisting indigenous peoples and forest communities from across the globe.  FPP works to create political space for forest peoples to secure their rights, control their lands and decide their own futures.

FPP implements the HCSA

  • Provides advice and services to communities and local NGOs interested in learning about companies and other entities who use the HCSA to implement their No Deforestation commitments.
  • Advocates and promotes the uptake of HCSA’s Social Requirements by producers and commodity users – to uphold and respect the rights of indigenous peoples and local communities.
  • Contributes to HCSA No Deforestation policies, especially protocols and guidance on social issues and human rights.
  • Participates in piloting adaptations of the Social Requirements of the HCSA Toolkit for different commodities, jurisdictions, geographic regions, land managers and scales of operation.

Forest Peoples Programme contributes to the work of HCSA through the following activities and commitments:

FFP is an elected member of the HCSA Executive Committee representing the NGO membership.The Executive Committee is the organisation’s decision-making forum where all aspects of HCSA’s work is approved, except for proposed changes to the HCSA methodology, which is approved by the full membership.
